What we do
Safeguard Jewish South Jersey (SJSJ) was launched in November 2024 in response to rising antisemitism and anti-Zionism in our region. Like many other Jewish communities throughout our country, we feel that building a grassroots effort of concerned members of our community will help to educate, inspire vigilance, and engage community members in both proactive steps and responsive actions that will strengthen us for the future.
OUr
mission
-
We strive to educate community members about antisemitism and its current manifestations, encourage activism by monitoring and reporting matters of concern, and work collaboratively to productively resolve issues.
-
We share pride and support for our Jewish homeland while actively correcting misinformation and distortions that are becoming increasingly prevalent.
-
We strive to educate the community about local elections and the importance of voting wisely, encourage community members to consider political office, promote active parental involvement in children’s schools, support students in joining Jewish and Israel student groups, and inspire all community members to participate in school board meetings, city council sessions, and other civic activities.
-
We stay vigilant to happenings in nearby communities that may affect us and respond proactively to issues community members care about.
join us!
SJSJ encourages community members from all across the region to join us in safeguarding our community against antisemitism and all forms of hate. It is our goal to work with local synagogues, Jewish organizations including the Jewish Federation and its JCRC, members of the non-Jewish community who share our goals, local civic and community leaders, and local law enforcement as needed. We also work with organizations that can provide training and resources to us. Finally, we have developed relationships with groups like us in other communities to collaborate where appropriate.
